The Accent Kit 4+

I really want to be able to recommend this app because it’s a great idea - but there are so few accents available in the store. Even those that you would expect to be there are missing. The other big problem is that nearly all the recordings are of younger speakers who often have very homogenised versions of their accent. Please give us more geographical variation and more older speakers!

Hi there. We appreciate your review. We work hard to collect as many samples as we can and this is an ongoing process. All the samples are personally sourced and recorded which obviously creates some frustrations in our attempts to build our library. Having said that we are very proud of having collected over 200 different contributions so far, many of which are available in the store, while many more are currently being edited and formatted for upload soon!

I have really liked the sound of this app and had since bought two accents from the store, however, the accents have not been added to my library, nor have they been restored since I have restarted my phone or anything like that.

However, the prompt for ‘Thank you for your purchase’ has come up before, as well as one of the accents appearing in my library, but this only happened once. My bank has also recorded the transaction and the money has been taken out of my account, as well as it has appeared on payment history etc.

Either give me my money back or tell me how to fix this.

Hi Shazzura. Apologies for dropping the ball on this. Did you get this fixed through emailing us? In case it is still an issue, the best fix is to delete the app entirely from your phone and re-install it. Then tap on RESTORE PURCHASES. If for any reason something you have purchased does not show, click through ALL the processes you would as if you were purchasing it. YOU WILL NOT BE CHARGED TWICE! Let us know how you got on. Since the most recent update, the facility for restoring purchases now takes a bit longer before it fails. I get as far as 'downloading 0 of 1' before it hangs, whereas before it just hung. I still haven't been able to get at the accent kit I paid for, and there has been no response to my attempts to contact the publishers via email or Twitter. Is this app any good? No idea - I haven't been able to use it with the accent I bought. My advice is to not touch it until reviews start appearing saying 'works now'. At the moment it's like a vending machine that takes your money but won't give you your chocolate.

Hi there. We are going through old reviews and noticed that there was no response we to yours. We see you say you emailed and tweeted. We always respond to this so are surprised to see you say there was no response. Could you let us know your twitter handle or email address so we can see where this went wrong? Do try the app again. It is in fine form!
